To get up and have the smell of fresh waffles in the nose, what can be better? I love waffles and have certainly not eaten them for 5 years. The reason for this, waffles consist mostly of eggs and mostly also of milk or butter. But this does not always have to be, I show you today how to prepare vegan wholemeal waffles without animal products and without added sugars. The secret stuff, which makes it nevertheless wonderfully sweet, is banana.
Ingredients:
– 1 large ripe banana
– 200 g spelled flour (I take whole grain, you can also take normal or wheat flour :))
– 15 g of baking powder
– 100 ml of plant milk (I take oat milk)
– 150 ml of water
– 1 tbsp of vegetable oil
– 1 pinch of cinnamon
– 1 pinch of salt
– vegetable oil for brushing the waffle iron
For the different versions:
– 1 tbsp matcha powder
– 1 tbsp of baking cocoa
Preparation Waffles:
For the preparation you also need a waffle iron, since I own none, I had to borrow one from my mother. For the dough mix flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Mix the banana to a creamy mass. Then add the banana with the plant milk and the water to the flour mixture and mix everything vigorously into a smooth dough. The dough can then be placed in the pre-heated trowel. The time required for baking depends on the setting of the iron that you use. Mostly, there is a lamp at the top, which tells you when the waffles are ready to eat.
As you have already noticed when reading the title, I did not just make normal waffles (nature), but also two other variants. For the Matcha variant simply add a spoon Matcha powder for baking in the dough. The waffles become gorgeous green and taste quite discreetly after the green tea. For the chocolate variant, I used a spoon of cocoa, who likes it very shocked, can also take a spoon more. There are no limits for decorating or topping. I usually use fresh fruits, frozen berries, nuts and some maple syrup. If you like it sweeter, you can also sprinkle powdered sugar over the waffles.
Enjoy your waffles 🙂
